A California woman known as 'the butt lady' was found guilty in connection with the death of actress Cindyana Santangelo caused by a botched silicone injection session.
Libby Adame, 55, was convicted of second-degree murder and practicing medicine without a license, the Los Angeles Times reports. Santangelo, 58, a mother of two who appeared in roles on Married...With Children, ER and multiple iconic music videos, died on March 24 after being rushed to Ventura County Hospital, where she was ruled to have suffered a fatal embolism from a silicone injection, according to prosecutors.
Adame was already on probation from an involuntary manslaughter case over the fatal buttocks injections that killed Karissa Rajpaul, 26, in 2019, having been acquitted from the more serious murder charge. She received a four-year, four-month prison sentence in April 2024 before being released less than a year later due to time served in custody and electronic monitoring.
Santangelo's first big break came when she was cast in rapper Young MC's 1989 music video for the song 'Bust a Move.' The actress later appeared in the music video for Jane's Addiction's song 'Stop,' with lead vocalist Perry Farrell later calling her "the Latin Marilyn Monroe" during an interview with Spin Magazine.
Santangelo also appeared as Sierra Madre on Married...With Children prior to appearances on CSI: Miami and ER. Santangelo's death came days after her birthday, according to a post shared by Cynthia Banuelos, who also shared a tribute post on her Instagram account on March 26.
"My heart aches as I write this. I’m still in shock and disbelief. How can you be gone???" Banuelos wrote. "I will feel your presence in every crashing wave, every salty breeze, and every shimmering reflection of the sun on the ocean’s surface. You were my best friend, my wifey, my kindred spirit. The most gorgeous mermaid in human form. Forever drawn to the sea."
